Modifier?

Though made apparently in a flash, our decision of when to cross the road depends on estimates based on similar past experiences. If we have made a good guess, we will have predicted correctly where we will be (a)in relation to the approaching traffic (b)during all the time taken to make the crossing and we will get safely over the road.

In my interpretation, (a) modifies “will be” and (b) modifies “will have predicted.” Am I right? This writing is so hard to read. Too many modifiers!!

  • My grammar fails me here unless an adverb can modify a conjunction, but that is what it is doing.

teacherJapan(a) modifies “will be”

It modifies "where"—"where (in relation to the approaching traffic) we will be". My grammar fails me here unless an adverb can modify a conjunction, but that is what it is doing.

If we have made a good guess,

we will have predicted correctly

[where we will be
[in relation to the approaching traffic]adjunct(place)
[during all the time
taken to make the crossing]adjunct(time )]complement of predicted,

and we will get safely over the road.

The complement of 'predicted' is an indirect questi
