modifier

I need some information about obligatory and optional modifiers. How to recognize them? What is the main difference beetwen them? Can anyone help me, please?:)

Well, modifiers aren't actually obligatory. Grammatically they are optional, though semantically they are necessary to convey the intended meaning. Are you perhaps thinking of 'complements', which can be obligatory or optional?
