Dear folks,
A reference book mentions the following sentence and
explains its structure:
Everything has been done that could be done
in such a short time.
"(I)n such a short time" modifies the preceding phrase
"could be done."
I was wondering, however, if there would be any chance
that "in such a short time" could modify "has been done."
Otherwise, should this kind of sentence be analyzed
based on the context in which it appears?
What would you think?
I would be much obliged should you kindly help me with
the problem?
Thank you.
Ray
