Modification clear enough?

Hi. I think the underlined phrase modifies the "little porch." Is it clear enough, placed where it is in the sentence? Thank you in advance for your help.

They came upon a place with a little porch in it around 2 feet long.

A porch is a constructed space outside a house where people can sit and talk to each other and watch the world go by.

Porches are sometimes the width of the entire house. I cannot imagine any porch being 2 feet long!
