modeling excerise for English class, help!

Hello,

I have to take one of the stories we've read, and rewrite it using the author's original sentence structure. I can change the main character, time period, etc, and the only limit is my imagination.

Has anyone had to do a similar assignment? I'm having a hard time with this and I am not sure why. I'm not even sure if we are suppose to use the same storyline, but different characters. It would seem the assignment suggests a radical change where the story is completely different, and the only similarity should be sentence structure.
