Model something

What does ‘model’ (which appears twice) in the passage below mean? A dictionary gives five explanations (1-5) for the transitive verb ‘model,’ but I don’t think any of them is good in this case. I think ‘model’ in the passage is close to ‘imitate’ in meaning.

(1) to create a copy or description of an activity, a situation, etc. so that you can study it before dealing with the real thing

(2) to represent something, especially in a diagram

(3) to shape clay, etc. in order to make something

(4) to wear clothes in order to show them to people who might want to buy them

(5) to set an example of behavior that you want other people to copy

Parents need to realize that children are like baby ducks: They model behavior. I was lucky enough to grow up in a house where staying inside to watch television was not an option. My parents encouraged me to jump rope, bike ride, play kick-the-can and tetherball. I built my world outside the classroom around physical activity. It was a big part of my life then, and a huge part of my life now.

I can already see how my daughters, Katie, 9, and Perrie, 6, model my behavior. Their feelings about exercise and activity are positive because my husband and I not only expose them to a wide variety of activities, but we also stimulate their interest by making these activities fun family affairs.

I don't think there is a contradiction between your answer and those options, especially (1) and (5). I think the meaning of "They model behavior" is "imitate or copying". We can also say parents consider a model for their children.
