MNEMOs?

Hi all;

some days ago I came to the -CVC rule for doubling (?) the last letter of verbs when switching to the continous forms.

I'm wondering where can I (or "I can" because it's an indirect question...?) find more mnemotechnic rules like this one. I mean: easy rules that works almost all the time, or some non-ortodox rules that native speakers use.

Thank you all for your help!!!

Here's one I like:

If there is a "C" you spy, put the "E" before the "I."
If there isn't any "C," Put the "I" before the "E."
