Speech & Pronunciation

"Miz" and "Mrs"

Hi

Is this true that "Ms" is pronounced as "Miz" and "Mrs" as "Miss-es". I remeber that somewhere I read that "Ms" is not to be pronounced as "Miss". Is this correct? And is this also correct that "Ms" title is used when you don't know about or don't want to involve the marriage status of the addressee?
