Mixture of singular and plural

I was brought up to say "I am" and "amn't I" however today I hear "I am and "aren't I"
My question - Am I right or is what I hear today right. Grammatically I feel I am right.

'Aren't I' is the usual expression. 'Amn't I', though more logical, is not widely used in the English-speaking world and many would think it very odd. Rover

I was raised near the Amish counties of eastern Pennsylvania USA and I heard people say "amn't I."
I never heard it spoken nor saw it written anywhere else.

Also worth considering is the more formal

'I am your favourite nephew, uncle, am I not?'
