Mixed tenses in one sentence

Hello,
I'm doing a review on a scientific article.

I want to say something like this:

The results of the study led the researchers to conclude that the type of treatment administered is suitable for the group.

My issue is with the word "is". Should it be "was"?

I don't know whether the treatment is suitable even now.
I haven't read the most recent research/studies on this topic. The treatment may be suitable even now. It may not be suitable even now. I do not know.

All I know is that at the time when the researchers wrote their article, they concluded that the suitable was suitable. Whether they still think so is something  I do not know.
