Mixed conditionals

Hi teachers

Donald Trump said

"if he does a great job that would be a great thing"

Is this a mixed conditional? Could someone explain why he didn't say

"If he did a great job that would be a good thing"

Thanks

Hehe! True... But I was a little confused with what he said. He was referring to the new Muslim Mayor of London.

I would have thought that either a first conditional :

If he does a great job, that will be great

Or

If he did a great job, that would be great.

I can't understand if you can mixed these two up. Or am I missing something?
