Mixed conditionals

Hello,
I would like to ask a question about mixed conditionals.

If you don't water plants, they die. (The Zero Conditional)
If you didn't water plants, they would die. (The Second Conditional)

Could you tell me please if such a sentence is acceptable:

If you didn't water plants, they die.

(I think it's acceptable, 'if you didn't...' but normally you water plants, the result is always the same - they die). We've mixed the second and the zero conditional.

Thank you in advance for your help.
Kind regards.
