Mixed conditional tenses with the past continuous???

Hello

I know you can say:

If I had worked I would have killed myself.

but can you say:

If I was working in an hour, I would have killed myself
If I worked in an hour, I would/would have killed myself.
If I was scheduled to work in an hour, I would have killed myself.

Thank you

None of these are natural sounding statements, and the meaning of all of them is unclear because of the ackward phrasing. Are you trying to say that if you knew you were scheduled to have to begin work in an hour you would "kill yourself"? (presuming that last phrase you are using as hyperbole to mean you would be very upset).

  • If that is what you are trying to say, a more natural version that you might hear would be: If I had to go to work in an hour I would just kill myself.
  • Or, if you were describing feeling that way in the past you might say: If I had needed to go to work in an hour, I would have just felt like killing myself.
