In my understanding, "misunderstanding" can be used both in the singular and the plural forms. Could you give me some examples?

I should have posted the examples myself first.

For example,

1) His careless remarks caused a misundersanding.
2) Your acts are apt to invite misunderstanding.
3) When many people work together, misunderstandings always occur.

I've seen these examples before, but I am not sure why there are differences in its usage as in

Misunderstanding (uncountable) is a concept or idea that communication is not always received as intended.
