Mistaken for/confused with

Down the street, a group of young men, who easily (might/could) (be/have been) (mistaken for/confused with) a gang of gangsta rappers, are hanging out.

Hi teachers, how would you write this sentence? Could you think of a better word than "gang"?

anonymous Hi teachers, how would you write this sentence? It is in present tense, so that limits the verbs avaiable. "Easily" sits more comfortably after the conditional.

  • "Easily" sits more comfortably after the conditional.
  • "Confused with" implies that there is a second group we are aware of that looks like this one, which is not what you mean.
  • In the US, anyway, "might" and "could" often appear indiscriminately without regard for any differences they may have.
