Mistake

situation:

I walk into a room, and my father says, Peter, fetch me the axe. When I am Otto.

Then what should be the sentence?:

-There was no one but Peter whose step he could have mistaken for mine.
-There was no one but I whose step he could have mistaken for Peter's.
