Missing 'to'?

Is there a missing 'to' in the following sentences?

1. Some were also helping their friends find something that suited their need. [to find?]

2. The gift of friendship that people could offer their neighbours. [offer to?]

Top answer

"to" is optional in both cases with no change of meaning. The second "their" in (1) seems ambiguous, and it is possible that "need" would be better as "needs". (2) is not a complete sentence.
