Miss u a lot or miss u much

Hi ;

I got a problem with my boyfan, as i sent him a sms with sentence" I miss u a lot" but he told me it was wrong, the right one should be " I miss u much". So i 'd like to know which one is correct?

He doesn't care that you wrote 'u' instead of 'you'?

I think that when using this style of texting English, it isn't necessary to worry too much about following good usage.

u in place of 'you'

thx in place of 'thanks'

sms in place of [???]

These are much more serious concerns than 'a lot' or 'much'.

To answer you question, however, I think that 'a lot' sounds more natural.
