Miss seeing

Dear People,

Please read the sentence and teach me if

it can work as an idiomatic English expression.

I missed seeing my son's baseball game because

I was travelling around Europe on business.

I know such a type of sentence as

I missed seeing Tom by a minute.

completely makes sense, but there is, I feel, something slightly

different between the two sentences in ..., which, unfortunately,

I cannot find a suitable word for.

Please give me your feedback.

Ray VirginI missed seeing my son's baseball game because I was travelling around Europe on business.

That is fine, natural and common, though you could also say, 'I missed my son's baseball game....'
