Miss or mrs for an unnkown lady with name in a letter

Hello everyone,
how should I address a woman/girl in a letter? With Mrs or Miss? I do not know, whether she is married or not??
Thanks a lot in advance.

Hi, If you are not sure if Jane Smith is a married or single woman/girl/lady, say 'Ms Smith'. In fact, many females in the world of business today prefer that form of address, because they consider their marital status irrelevant, just as it is irrelevant for men. Best wishes, Clive
