Miscellaneous grammar

Hello

Several minor English grammar in my mind for years and now I want to have a real answer to this.

1. What's difference among all these things

"South America" , "Southern America" ?

"China market" , "Chinese market" ?

"It is the most important thing IN my life"? or "It is the most important thing OF my life"?

"I hold the wallet IN my hand" or "I hold the wallet ON my hand" ? Actually I once wrote the latter one but my teacher marked it wrong. But I didn't ask him why and now I am not in school anymore.

what is the difference between these two expressions "commit a crime", "violate the law". I think they have similar
meanings but... It may "feel" different.

Thank you all!! I need precise grammar for my non-English speaking students as a non-English speaking young teacher.

Just on the last point regarding the difference between "commit a crime" and "violate the law", not all laws relate to criminal activity (crimes) so violation of the law does not necessarily result in a crime. Yes, right, Anon. Thanks. The layman would probably think that illegal parking was a crime, though.
