What is the difference in meaning between these two words.

(Eg. In creating this deisgn, we took a minimalist/minamilistic approach)

I've done a bit of research and discovered that there's no difference. 'Minimalist' is more commonly used. Rover

It finds 25 dictionaries listing minimalist but only six with minimalistic.
