Mine

Tom asked Dick, 'I live in a big city. Where do you live in?'
Dick replied, 'Mine is a nondescript town. It's in the foothills of Alps.'
Is Dick's reply grammatically correct?

Top answer

First of all, the question is not correct. " "Mine is a nondescript town" is grammatically correct in itself, and is intelligible in the situation, but it does not really follow on properly from the question. "(I live) in a nondescript town in the foothills of the Alps" would be a typical reply.
