Having a right mindset orientation greatly influences the life of a person. Therefore, it is essential to find and build a good mindset for ourselves early on, it will make our life much easier. In this paper, the main purpose is having a certain definition of the differences between growth mindset and fixed mindset and proposing a researchable question about this topic.
As I know, one of the main doctrines of Dweck's theory is that some people believe that they have innate talents, while others know that skills can be developed. People who possess a growth mindset will feel completely different. They know that they are always able to learn new things. When we have a growth mindset, we will not worry about failure because we know that making mistakes is part of learning. We understand that we can always change learning or practice more. However, fixed minded people are contrasted. I believe that being surrounded by the negatives of a fixed mindset can bring a negative effect on you. You may have noticed one or more signs of fixed thinking in your daily relationship with others. For example, when I invited a friend to join me in a dancing challenge at school, then he refused me and said that it’s too hard for him and he doesn’t want to embarrass himself. Thus, when people believe they are just them, that makes them afraid of the risk and don’t have enough confidence. They decide to avoid the challenge because the price of failure is too high. Moreover, people who have a fixed mindset tend to be jealous when they see others trying hard and moving forward in life because they feel that others simply have good conditions to be successful since they were born. Consequently, when they're stuck, the last thing they want is there is someone trying to help them changing everything for them. That is why fixed-minded people often ignore advices. When they really care about things like negative comments, they will be hurted. The best individuals in any field may not be able to lead without some inborn ability. However, one important thing that many people cannot see is that they cannot become the greatest just by using their innate talents. Thus, differences in thinking can also lead to remarkable differences in behavior. If someone believes that intelligence and ability are immutable characteristics, they cannot make much effort to change their inherent intelligence and abilities. On the other hand, people who believe they can change these traits may be more willing to spend more time and effort to achieve more ambitious goals. By having growth mindset, individuals can achieve more than others because they are less worried about being smart or pretending talented and putting more energy into learning.
In conclusion, believing in yourself, your abilities and your skills can be really important for improving yourself and achieving a growth mindset. Getting used to challenges and knowing that if you want to accomplish anything worthwhile, you will have to face many challenges on your journey. Prepare yourself to confront with these challenges and sometimes even failures. Eventually, the question that I want to investigate is what factor influences the formation of a person’s fixed-mindset or growth-mindset the most?
