What is a difference between these two sentences:Would you mind I do not open the window.Would you mind I did not open the window.

They're both questions, right?

I suppose they're both conditionals, in a bizarre sort of way. An "if" would be optional.

I see no difference in meaning. The "did" is a sort of backshifting.

Personally, I'd be more inclined to add the "if" when using the "did." (Would you mind if I did not etc.)

With the present tense, we could replace "if" with "that." (Would you mind that I do not etc.)

I'm afraid I'm answering more on instinct than on the application of the formulas.

Omitting the "if/that" has a higher register sound to my ear, perhaps British.

I'm reminded of my rather ancient second grade teacher's threat in the 40's: You want I should pinch?!

1 is a little less polite. It seems you have decided fairly firmly not to open the window.
2 is a little more polite. It seems you might be willing to open the window if you hear any objections to leaving it closed.
