Mince one's words?

Hello everybody!
I am a kind of newbie around here, so I don´t really know if this is the right place to ask this kind of questions.

I am a little confused. How do you say; "He didn´t mince his words" or "he didn´t mince words"?
I have seen people write both, so I am in two minds really...

Thanks in advance!
