mimick

Hi,

I met this sentence "The challenge of mathematically mimicking brain function is complicated by the fact that brain cells converse in a sort of secret electrical code."

I'm not sure about this word mimick. Is it a different form of mimic?

Mimick is actually an old-fashioned spelling, but the modern spelling is always mimic . However, it conjugates irregularly by adding a "k": mimicked , mimicking . This is because "mimiced" "looks wrong".
