might have been or might be

#1 The Police think that Neena might have been there yesterday at the time of murder.

#2 The Police think that Neena might be there yesterday at the time of murder.

If i change "might have been" with "might be" , does it make sentence wrong grammatically or it will just change the meaning of the sentence?

The grammar in #2 is correct, but then a lot of correct grammar makes for nonsense in terms of meaning. The problem with making your proposed change is a contradiction in meaning. 'might be' means now; 'yeste
