Might have

1-He might have built a bridge and he might have saved many lives.
2-He might have built a bridge and saved many lives.

I think those two sentences have different meanings. In 1 we are considering two independent events. In 2 the two things are related. In 2, it is by building the bridge that he would have saved lives. I do not think 1 can be used instead of 2.

Is that correct?
