Might as well/quotation

Dear users,

I have found the following quote but I am not sure that it means

Age only matters when one is ageing. Now that I have arrived at a great age, I might just as well be twenty

The author of this quotation is Picasso. What puzzles me is the end of the second sentence. What does he mean by saying "I might just as well be twenty"?
