Might as well, might well, would rather, better off

1) "might as well"
I might as well read the book while waiting for my turn, since there is a long line. = I do not feel like reading the book. However, I think I should read the book, since there is nothing to do but to read the book while waiting for my turn.
2) "might well"
The guy might well scream like that, since he got his arm injected with the sharp needle. (It is understandable that he screamed like that)
3) "would rather"
I would rather eat the porrdige than eat the spicy food, since I feel sick.
4)"better off"
You are better off eating the porridge, since you feel sick. ( I do not know how to expain this)

5) . I'd rather take the subway than take a bus.
I might as well take the subway as take a bus.
What would be the difference betwen them?

Are my expressions and meangings OK?
