Might as well be comfortable

Hello every body.

What does' Might as well be comfortable' mean? Is it an expression?

Who cares about grace or elegance? Ever since I 'd entered into a partnership for life , I was no longer of interest to any one. Might as well be comfortable.

'may as well' or 'might as well' is used to say that there is no reason to do the opposite. The speaker is saying that taking the trouble to be graceful and elegant makes her uncomfortable. There is no reason to go to that trouble when you can feel more comfortable without all that.
