When do we use 'mid-sized' and when 'medium-sized'?

Hi, Very generally speaking, I associate 'mid-size' with descriptions of cars. Having said that, it is sometimes used for other things, although I've never heard of a 'mid-size pocket'. I suggest that, for other than cars, a simple approach is to stick wih saying 'medium-sized'.
