Mid-Sentence Use of Quotes

Hi.

Per logical punctuation, of course, ...

1. When Joe referred to Jane as a "schlimazel", she was highly offended. (Comma goes outside the quote here?)

2. Joe said that his decision was "in the interest of fairness". (Full stop outside at end of sentence because not a direct quote, but in essence a paraphrase of what Joe said?)

3. Joe said, "My decision was in the interest of fairness." (Full stop inside because this is a direct quote.)

Thank you.
