Mexican Culture

Question

This is the fourth time we have had the Spanish language camp at this college. The camp is not just a camp to learn Spanish but it's also a program where they are exposed to ( ) Mexican culture, and compare it with their own so that they would appreciate both cultures.

Could someone please help me understand why "the" is not required before "Mexican culture"?

'Mexican' already defines 'culture'-- no definite article is called for.

Unfortunately there is no logical reason. Words relating to culture

don't usually take an article even if there is anadjectival attribute:

He likes Spanish literature.
I am interested in medieval music.
Does he know anything about Japanese music?
Modern art is abominable.

However, there are exceptions: I don't know very much about the Japanese language.

Also note: the Japanese Navy, the Japanese Army, the Japanese Air Force, the Japanese Navy.
All other countries/nationalities in the same way, of course.
