Dear allCould you please correct the following  description of the land?The person is describing  the length of his land: "This is the first border, it begins from here, until that border. It covers 200 acres. So my land begins from here (or from this place) until that place or house.Can quarters be used instead of acres and hectares in this case? And when describing the length of the land  when should I use square miles, kilometres, yards centimetres?  There are also  yards, square feet, square inch should they be used  in this sentence?

I'd say that the unit of size depends on what is commonly used in the country you live in.

Where I live, people speak of 'acres'. But in towns, where the area of a person's land is smaller, they usually give the dimensions, eg His lot is 20 yards by 40 yards.

People commonly speak of boundaries rather than of borders.

This is my first boundary, from here to that big tree. I have 200 acres. It's my land from here to there.

I would rather say :

" This is my land, its area is 200 acres. It's boundary starts from here and ends there "

Commonly 'border' is used to describe the boundaries between large areas or boundaries of large areas .

Eg. The border (noun) between USA and Mexico is very long.

Ukraine is the second largest country in Eastern Europe, it is bordered (verb) by Russian federation in the east.

'Quarters' is usually used to refer to a place of residence. Especially a building or barracks used to house employees of an organisation, government personnel, military personnel and their dependents etc.

Square miles, square kilometers are usually used to describe the area of large size, like that of a country, continent , surface area of a planet etc.

Eg: The total area of Asia is 44,579,000 square kilometers (17,212,000 square miles).

Using square miles, square kilometers etc. depends mostly on the country/place in which you reside and the common practice existing there.
