Metaphor

Can you give me an example of metaphors about heroes?

I need it for my poem entry in our school. Thanks a lot!

A metaphor is a comparison that doesn't use the words 'like' or 'as'. A simile is a comparison that uses 'like' or 'as' to compare. The hero is a speeding train that cannot be stopped = a metaphor The hero is like a speeding train that cannot be stopped = a simile I hope this helps, metaphors mean you use a word as a comparison, but you use it without comparing.

  • Obama is the gatekeeper of American law.
  • He's not actually a gatekeeper, but he's like a gatekeeper because he can choose what goes in and out.
