The first. We usually use 'met' alone when we are talking about a first-time meeting (with an introduction, etc). That is not always true, but that's what is often meant.

And so, is it not possible to say "Yesterday, I met my brother for coffee. We often meet on Fridays, but he's busy this Friday."?

And how about "Let's meet for coffee next week, shall we", to an old friend.
