Messy speech.

As it stands:

"If Peter is right about the hills' eastern slopes being steeper than its western ones, it's fair to assume that they were the 'walls' that Herman mentioned."

It's the fair to assume that they bit I don't like.

Thank you. Fixing that now. The slopes don't really need to be identified as parts of a hill.
