Merry Christmas

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to everyone!

"I am not sure we'd have a match either way with so little to work with."

Vs.

"I am not sure we'll have a match either way with so little to work with."

What is the difference? is the first not very certain and the second one is certain?

thanks,

Ench.

Merry Christmas to you too, Enchanted. As regards your question, the version with "would" (sentence 1) tends to suggest to me that trying to get a match will probably not even be attempted. Sentence 2 suggests that they will attempt to find a match despite the fact that finding a match doesn't look promising.
