Merriam Webster Dictionary of Allusions

Hi

In one of the articles I read recently, there was a lot of praise for this dictionary. Any of you have it / have seen it?

Thanks,

Tom

PS: Since it was a discussion about a dictionary, I posted this in the Vocabulary Forum.

This is the first time I've heard of this book. The preview of the book entries looked good, but rather heavy-handed (overly detailed) to a native English speaker in the US like myself. But maybe it would be useful to a non-native speaker.

  • But I'm wondering if the regular Merriam Webster Collegiate dictionary (which I use all the time) would cover most of the same things - further details, if needed, could be looked up quickly on the internet.
