merging two sentences into one

Hello,

Rewrite the sentence as per the example.
the question (1) is an example and the answer of it is (a).

On the basis of this example I have to rewrite the question (2).

1. I couldn't answer the question. It was difficult.

a) The question was difficult to naswer.



2. Don't cross the road. It is dangerous.

a) The road is dangerous to cross.

Is (a) correct? Is the bold letter "it" for road.

2. Don't cross the road. It is dangerous.

a) The road is dangerous to cross.

Is (a) correct? Yes. Is the bold letter "it" for road. Yes. Although you could also argue that 'it' refers to 'crossing the road'. I guess the result is the same.
