Menu questions

Experts,

When you're at a restaurant asking for a menu, correct expression would be:
Can I see a menu, please? or Can I see the menu, please?
Similarly,
Can I have a/the menu, please?
I'd like a/the menu, please?

Also, when want to ask your server to let you keep the menu for a while longer, what can you say? Something like, "Can I/we keep the menu?" or "Can you leave the menu here?" Let me know the expressions you'd normally use.

Thank you.

Thanks for your quick answer, Clive.
I totally understand what you say but for instance for later-on additional order, if you don't want the menu taken away just yet(want to have it left at your table for a while longer) what would you say? Something like: "Can i[we] keep the menu?" or like: Can you leave the menu?"

Hope I made it clear this time.

Hi,

I guess you could say what you suggest.

But normally, they take the menu away after you have ordered. If you want to see the menu again later, just say 'Can we see the menu again, please?'
