Mental makeover...

Chloe starts to forget a lot of thing about people and even the people themselves.
'I guess the more I think about someone the more my memory gives them
a complete mental makeover.' Alters them or eradicates them?

Alters them. "Makeover" is most often seen in women's magazines, where a woman or a room is given a "makeover" that makes her/it more attractive - different clothing, makeup, hairstyle, or in the case of a room, maybe some fresh paint and slipcovers.
