'mental adjustment'?

Hi,

Please have a look at this:

There are situations in which each director needs to understand that the CEO may not be up to the job of guiding the company in these torturous conditions. He or she may not be able to make the mental adjustment or may not have the courage and skills required to lead the company now.

What does 'mental adjustment' mean here? Does it mean 'changes in one's viewpoint'?

Thank you very much,

Nessie

I beg to differ "mental adjustment" does not mean to change one's viewpoint but to adapt to a stressful situation

Thanks for asking the question

mental adjustment
an adjustment of one's mind
a change in one's thinking
a change in one's way of thinking

There's nothing within these words that indicates "stress" to me.

To me, "mental adjustment" in this context meant having the cognizance to shift gear or alter the stradegy from the original business plan according to the changing market condition.
