Men paying/ men's paying

  1. They are fetishising men paying the bill in heterosexual couples.

I came across this sentence in a stand-up show. I wonder if it is grammatically correct?

I think this one is better since the first one might give the impression that "they" are fetishising "men" who pay the bill in heterosexual couples. I think what the comedian is talking about is the concept that is imposed on men that they should always pay the bill.
