Memory like a goldfish

Hi

Could we say "goldfish memory" or "memory like a goldfish" to describe very weak memory?

1) He has a goldfish memory.

2) He has a memory like a goldfish.

Thanks

Tom

He has a goldfish memory.
Sounds as if his memory is in the form of a goldfish !
Here the memory is being compared to a "goldfish's memory" , not to a "goldfish".
Hence, the second one is correct.

Hi,

Here's the idea about goldfish.

A goldfish has a little castle toy inside its little bowl.

The goldfish swims around and around and around.

Here's what the goldfish thinks.

Hey, there's a castle!

Hey, there's a castle!

Hey, there's a castle!

etc. etc.

And as Clive's vignette illustrates, the phrase implies "he keeps forgetting", rather than "he doesn't remember".
