The line graph illustrates the proportion of parliament’s women in different countries from Europe between 2000 and 2012. It is evident that all nations saw a growth in the percentage of female member through period except Belgium.Starting from approximately 27% in 2000, the percentage of Italian female member steadily increased to over 30% before exceeding that of Germany and reached the highest point at nearly 40% in 2012. In addition, a similar trend was recorded in both the proportion of Germany and France female member, sustained grew to over 35% and approximately 30% respectively in 2012.
Moreover, there was a dramatical growth in the percentage of female member of UK parliament from under 5% in 2000 to nearly 25% in the end of the period. However, that of Belgium witnessed a decline from 2008 to 2012 after increasing significantly to almost 25%.
