Mellow vs ripe

Are there any differences between the two like "ripe fruit" or "mellow fruit"? Thanks in advance!

"ripe" is the ordinary word that is used to describe fruit that is fully developed and ready to eat. "mellow fruit" seems more poetic and has some different connotations. In everyday situations you will never need to say "mellow fruit".
