meet for the first time?

hi guys .how can i say that im going to get to know something for the first time,i mean can i say "i am going to meet the new supermarket tomorrow"or simply im going to get to know the supermarket tomorrow

You can only 'meet' people (or possibly animals) but not places. Get to know also implies some interaction with something living. I'm going to see the new supermarket tomorrow.

HI nona thanks for your answer.Well im not too convinced because what i want to say is that im going to "know" the place for the first time,i mean isn't there a word like "meet" for ppl but for places that i can use to express that im going to see it for the first time?

It's true that get to know can imply some interaction with something living. However, we can also use the phrase to mean 'starting to learn about and become familiar with' something.

I'm getting to know New York. / I'm getting to know my new computer.

Prehaps the connection is that, in a sense, we are thinking of New York, or our new comp
